Local ads seem to be at somewhat of a disadvantage when competing with spammers.
What ever approach you use, text ads or image ads. The challenge becomes how to make your ad seem as legit and local as possible and professional. Image Ads are getting slicker and slicker and people frown on that in CL yet we know they work.
When you use an image ad incorporate local symbols a building a bridge etc.
It wasn’t to long ago I created a series of ads for someone in San Fransisco . None of her ads were flagged, I would like to think that it was the addition of a tastefully placed pic, of the Golden Gate bridge.
But what I do know for sure is it screamed local. Personal contact numbers street addresses, email addresses etc. The ad created a local event.
This creates an Inbound Trusting situation. People believe it is not a scam when they can talk to someone and it screams local.
If you are going to post to multiple cities then use local landmarks and put in an email address and get an autoresponder. Now you capture the email address and they are on your list for future mailings.
Below is an example of the ad.

“When you post, Pick your Headline carefully and
re-post every 48 hrs.
Don’t forget to delete your last ad first and then re-post.
When ever you need a face-lift to your ad Freshen up your
Headline also.
Craigslist is a cheap way to test your headlines before buying
offline media such as a magazine or newspaper.
If you test your headlines.
Reflect that headline in your CL image ad and offline advertising.
Having a bank of at least ads that constantly change gives you a real campaign that increases your perception of proffesionalism.
Once you have a continuous look of at least 3 ads
Why not use the opportunity to also intrigue them with a bit of
news, information etc. but only give enough to direct them to your
website to READ MORE.”

I thought i might as well start this blog off with a recent ad I created for a client.
This guy orders alot andI am alway happy to work with him, more because we cmmunicate.
He IMs me when he needs something and we send files back and forth. Now this guy really likes ads that pop. They are perfect for his market so, when I designed this one and delivered in less than 24 hrs He was delighted. But more than the look of the custom designed craigslist ad it is the results he gets that keep him comming back.
Once it was posted to craigslist he enjoyed the 1k hit in 4hrs. He was so swamped he needed to get help for phone support.
Here is is simple yet clear
